I am a creative with both ties to design and studio art. I believe they can serve as integral contributors to the creative process. As a designer, my natural impulse is to begin a project pencil to page, paint to canvas, or emulsion to screen, and finally I polish using technology.
It has become apparent to me that beauty is most affective when it's fuzzy, slightly vague, blurred, and even undefinable. I draw inspiration from pieces that represent reality in a slightly altered way. They take the liberty of moving viewers away from their reality, yet hold their feet to the ground of their present world. They allow the viewer an experience of disassociation. A dance recital, listening room, or theatre gives myself and other connoisseurs of art, the chance to become removed from the mundane episodes of life, and are forced to reckon with a new perspective of our world.
